Incident Prevention and Intervention
OGC believes that bullying and child endangerment are serious issues that have far reaching consequences for both the athletes involved and the entire sport community. Providing athletes with an opportunity to learn and develop in a safe and accepting space is a responsibility that OGC takes seriously and in support of which has developed Athlete Resources.
Every coach at OGC is required to complete a Commit to Kids learning module to better equip staff with strategies and plans to help incident prevention in our organization. In accordance with the Coaching Association of Canada, all staff aged 18+ years must complete a Vulnerable Sector Check and background screening every 3 years.
Input into creating a safe sport environment is conducted through discussions by OGC in collaboration with our annual members. This is an opportunity for parents/guardians to have a voice and to help OGC management in the development of the incident prevention and intervention plan.
